I’ve been in travel since 1978. But three years ago, I found a way combining being a stay at home parent with having a successful career. Not to mention I’m doing something I love and earning lots of money.
I was fed up with commuting and working with unreliable colleagues. I wanted to specialise in selling one type of holiday – cruises. With Future Travel you have
freedom in that you are able to sell a wider choice of operators. So you can see what you feel is right for the customer. The high street push you towards certain holidays
that may not be suitable. But I love my customers and I want to sell them the best
deal. I can do that here.
The flexibility means that I can always be there for my daughter. This is a luxury I didn’t have with my two older children – I was constantly relying on someone else. Nowadays, I get up around 7am and help my daughter get ready for school. I’m
usually at my desk for 9am. I work through till around 3pm when I collect her from school and then take her to various classes, dancing, gymnastics, whatever she needs. The company has a fantastic reputation and they let me work for myself. In the current climate, that gives me
peace of mind that the more money I make, the easier it will be for my family and me.
Working from home still feels like an office environment – only without all the constant interruptions. Another homeworker could be 200 miles away but because they are always on the other end of the phone, it’s like they’re
in the other room. Plus I have the support of the central IT helpdesk, as well as a general manager who has years
of experience and fabulous industry contacts.
